Barker Road Students Take Top Honors at Monroe County Math Competition
Congratulations to the Barker Road Middle School MathCounts Team for placing first in the Monroe County MathCounts Competition on Febrary 7, 2026. Students Naveen Madhavan, Ella Yu, Emily Zheng, Herene Shim, and coach Jaya Madhavan will head to the NYS MathCounts Championship in Saratoga Springs on March 14, 2026.
In addition to the team win, Emily Yu won first place overall and in the countdown round, Naveen Madhavan won second place, Emily Zheng won third place, and Herene Shim won seventh place.
MathCounts Foundation provides engaging math programs for over 100,000 students in grades 6-8 across the United States to build confidence and interest in math and problem solving.
