Pittsford Students Play Key Role in Rochester Philharmonic Youth Orchestra

More than a third of the 2024-25 Rochester Philharmonic Youth Orchestra (RPYO) is comprised of talented students from Pittsford Central School District who were selected to perform as part of this prestigious group. Of the 83 orchestra members, 18 come from Mendon High School and 13 come from Sutherland High School – making up roughly 37% of the membership.

15th Annual Pink the Rink Raises $15,000 for the Breast Cancer Coalition of Rochester

The 15th Annual Pink the Rink hockey games brought a big win for all, with $15,000 raised for the Breast Cancer Coalition of Rochester.

During this year’s February 1, 2025, event, the Pittsford Panthers hosted back-to-back JV and varsity games against the Victor Blue Devils who they defeated in the varsity game with a score of 5-0. Since its inception in 2010, Pink the Rink has grown into a signature event for Pittsford Hockey, raising over $120,000 to-date through corporate sponsorships, admission proceeds, T-shirt sales, Chuck-A-Puck contests, honor sign sponsorships, and game-day collections.

Two Pittsford Students Named Among Top Teen Scientists in the Nation

The Society for Science has named Pittsford students Emily Xinxin Yu (MHS) and Matthew Xie (SHS) among the top 300 scholars in the 2025 Regeneron Science Talent Search, the nation’s oldest and most prestigious science and math competition for high school seniors. They were selected from nearly 2,500 entrants from 795 high schools across 48 states, American Samoa, Guam, Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico and 14 other countries.
